Visa & Passport Requirements

Special Note

We are glad to let you know that persons aged 16(sixteen) years and below Do NOT need to submit a visa application to enter Kenya. Only their valid transport documents will be required at the point of entry.

For persons above 16 years, A visa remains obligatory prior to entry into Kenya. A single Entry Visa (valid for three months from date of issue) costs US$ 50; Transit Visa costs US$ 20; and a multiple journey visa costs US $ 100.

Citizens of the below countries must to have a visa before arrival in Kenya:

  1. Afghanistan
  2. Armenia
  3. Cameroon
  4. Azerbaijan
  5. Eritrea
  6. Iraq
  7. Lebanon
  8. Libya
  9. Mali
  10. North Korea
  11. Senegal
  12. Somali
  13. Syria
  14. Tajikistan
  15. Stateless Persons

Visas are valid for 3 months from the date of entry and can be purchased upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.  Visitors can pay for their visas in local currency and they must possess a passport that is valid until 6 months after the initial date of travel. One can also make an advance online application via https://www.ecitizen.go.ke/ to avoid queuing at the airport.

If you plan on traveling onwards from Kenya, visas for other East African countries such as Tanzania and Uganda can generally be obtained in Nairobi for around US$50 each. Travelers that have their transit for more than three days need to obtain in Nairobi a Transit visa for US$20 each.
